Grabar Law Office Reminds Consumers Who Have Had Juul.com Accounts Since at Least August 2018, of September 20, 2021, Deadline to Sign on to Price-Fixing Class Action

A Federal Judge has determined that almost all allegations in the consolidated class action complaints alleging price-fixing against Altria and Juul can move forward.

The case alleges that Altria Group, Inc. (“Altria”) and Juul Labs, Inc. (“Juul”), engaged in anticompetitive agreements in which Altria agreed to refrain from competing against Juul in the United States market for e-cigarettes in return for a substantial ownership interest in Juul. It is alleged that Altria and Juul agreed to divide and allocate the market for e-cigarettes in violation of antitrust laws and as a direct result, prices for e-cigarettes were higher than they would have been in a competitive market.  The Judge has noted that the plaintiffs have pointed to facts, including the agreements between Juul and Altria and Altria's statements to explain its actions, to support their theory that an important part of the merger agreement was in fact to kick Altria out of the e-cigarette market.

Consumers who have had a Juul.com account since prior to August 9, 2018, can potentially recover overcharges and a court approved incentive award if appropriate.
